Rockstar Games released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI on Thursday 15 October, US time, ahead of the game’s 19 November release.
The date is Rockstar’s own. The trailer ends with the series narrator announcing the title, the 19 November date and an M for Mature rating, Kotaku reported. The Verge reported the game is coming to PS5 and Xbox, 13 years after the last Grand Theft Auto.
The Verge said the 90-second clip gives “a good sense of the Miami-inflected vibe”, and that Rockstar says it was captured entirely on a PS5. In The Verge’s view the trailer does not reveal much that is new, but it does convey the game’s mood.

Jason, Lucia and a Score Gone Wrong
IGN reported the trailer opens on a bearded Jason working at Brian’s Marina before a call from Lucia Caminos. It touches on Jason’s troubled past, including leaving the army on bad terms, and includes what look like flashbacks to his army service, among them a helicopter jump.
“I got in some trouble in the army,” Jason says in his narration, as quoted by IGN. “Didn’t leave on the best of terms. They don’t give loans or anything to people like me.”
Lucia appears wearing an ankle tag, according to IGN. The outlet said the trailer shows cinematic action rather than gameplay, and that the PS5 is prominent, with a “plays best on PS5” message at the start as part of Rockstar’s partnership with Sony.
Rockstar’s short story description has Jason and Lucia drawn into a criminal conspiracy across the state of Leonida after an easy score goes wrong. The Verge called that text a brief new description for anyone who has not been following closely.
What IGN Spotted
IGN’s frame-by-frame breakdown reads more into the footage. It points to Jason in a U.S. Army T-shirt, a bank vault heist and Lucia firing a grenade launcher from a helicopter-slung cargo net. IGN also says Lucia is from Liberty City.
The same breakdown picks out a combat school at North Fort Law, the military base from the first Grand Theft Auto game, and a Marauder tattoo that IGN reads as Jason’s old unit.
The Music
Music is a major focus of GTA VI, as with past titles, The Verge said, and electronic duo Justice is scoring the game. According to Rockstar Games, the trailer debuts “Flower in a Hurricane” from original score composers Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
Thirteen Years in the Making
Rockstar released a lengthy “extended look” in August, The Verge reported, and leaks from the game have continued to spread online. The launch trailer followed on 15 October, with the release due on 19 November.
The trailer’s closing line follows a tradition in Grand Theft Auto launch trailers that Kotaku traces back to San Andreas. The same voice closed the launch trailers for Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, GTA IV and GTA V, and Rockstar has used the narration to end the launch trailers for Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 as well.
Kotaku quoted the narrator’s words: “GRAND THEFT AUTO 6. COMING NOVEMBER 19. RATED M FOR MATURE.” It expects the trailer to be used heavily for advertising on TV and elsewhere.
The game is eligible for The Game Awards 2026, IGN reported.
